PAT testing services

Our PAT testing services include on-site checks with a Seaward PrimeTest 350, labels on the day, microwave leakage tests, and flexible scheduling.

Portable appliance testing

Class I and Class II equipment: kettles, IT, power tools, extension leads, kitchen appliances, cleaners, heaters and the everyday kit that sits around a workplace or let property.

IEC leads and extension leads

Cables fail as often as appliances. We test IEC leads, multi-way extensions and similar cords as part of the visit so the whole chain is covered.

Microwave leakage tests

We also check microwaves around the door, seals and casing so the oven is safe to use all round. We work to the limit in BS EN 60335-2-25: leakage must not exceed 5 mW/cm² (50 W/m²) when measured 50 mm from the surface. Anything over that is failed and taken out of use.

Labels and reports

Each tested item is labelled pass or fail. You receive a report with asset details and results for your health and safety file or insurance records.

Failed items

Anything that fails is clearly marked so it can be taken out of service. We will explain the result in plain English — we do not leave you guessing.

PrimeTest 350

What the tester actually checks

The Seaward PrimeTest 350 is a professional handheld PAT tester. On a typical visit we use it for:

Earth continuity

Confirms the protective earth path on Class I appliances.

Insulation resistance

250V or 500V tests, including the lower voltage where surge-protected kit needs it.

Leakage & touch current

Substitute leakage, PE conductor current and touch current as the appliance requires.

Socket wiring check

A quick check that the supply you are using is wired correctly before testing proceeds.

Load measurement

Current and power during protective conductor and touch-current tests.

RCD trip time

Where an appliance or circuit needs an RCD check as part of the sequence.

Who we visit

Companies, charity shops, institutions, landlords, hotels, schools and other organisations. If you have a cupboard full of kettles and a health and safety folder that needs updating, we can help.
